A donated couch, a Kosovo refugee, a very big dream and divine intervention.
March 14th, 2008It is in our nature to diminish or almost ignore our own successes as the day-to-day grind dictates our view and hides us from our vision. So when reminded by others of Henry-Brown’s achievements it gives me time to reflect on the very beginning as one person, 2 sewing machines and a dark basement. I am taken back to the time when donating a couch through our church connected me to a successful and skilled handbag maker escaping war-torn Kosovo and looking for a new start.
When other entrepreneurs and especially business women ask “How did you get here?” my short answer is to dream and dream big. Make it happen for yourself, don’t expect anyone to do it for you and never, never ever give up. If I had taken life up on it’s many opportunities to hang up my dream of creating designer tennis bags I would have missed “the” moment that changed my life and the lives of the entire HB family.
Live daily but always look forward. Give back when you can and touch someone who needs it. Don’t miss your chance.
